Top Korean Actress Kim Hee-Sun getting married


Kim Hee Sun will get married with her boyfriend this October

One of Korea’s top actresses, Kim Hee-sun (30) confessed to a monthy magazine that she is planning to get married in October or November of this year. She met her fiance, Park Ju-young (32), this past January and the flames of romance have been burning hot ever since. Her happiness is evident on her cyworld homepage with the words ” Always, I’m happy.”

In addition, on her page, she wrote that: ‘Love is like the measles. We all have to go through it only once. One never catches it the second time. No We never sicken with love twice. Cupid spends no second arrow on the same heart’

Jang Hyuk to Star in "Dance of the Dragon"



Actor Jang Hyuk
will co-star in the Hollywood movie "Dance of the Dragon" with Singaporean actress Fann Wong.

Jang, who has gained popularity in Asia for his roles in the movies "Windstruck" and "Volcano High," will play a Chinese volume dancer who tries to hamper the relationship between a woman played by Fann Wong and a martial art champion played by actor Jason Scott Lee. All lines will be spoken in English.

Jang will stay in Singapore for two months for filming.

"Dance of the Dragon" will be filmed by East Light Film, which produces movies in Asia. The movie's production costs reached four million dollars, with the opening slated for April next year.

Wong won the best actress award in 1995 for her role in the Singaporean TV drama "Chronicle of Life," and in 2000 was nominated for the Hong Kong Film Awards' Best New Performer for her role in "The Truth About Jane and Sam."

In 2003, she debuted in Hollywood by playing a leading role in "Shanghai Knights."

Lee is a Chinese actor known for his roles in the movies "Dragon," "Rapa Nui" and "The Jungle Book."

Son Ye Jin, returns to the screen in two years as a femme fatal pickpocket



Top star Son Ye Jin will turn into an 'international' pickpocket.

In the upcoming movie '
Open City' directed by Lee Sang Ki, Son Ye Jin will act as the boss of a pickpocket organization displaying her femme fatal charm.

Scheduled to open in December, she is appearing on screen two years after the movie '
The Art of Seduction' which opened in 2005.

The movie has especially gathered attention as she will be partnering with actor Kim Myung Min of the
MBC drama series 'White Tower.'

'Open City' which depicts the conflict between an international pickpocket organization and an investigation team will feature
Son Ye Jin who rids of her innocent image in a seductive and strong character.

Her character Baek Jang Mi grows her organization with her charm femme fatal charm, making any man want to give up everything to be with her.


But falling in love with Kim Myung Min, a member of the investigating team, she cannot hide her identity as a female and her painful past.


Son Ye Jin
is currently training for the action scenes in the movie that will crank in at the end of this month.

"Ice Bar" Wins Top Prize at Fukuoka Asian Film Festival



The family film "Ice Bar" won the best picture award at the 21st Fukuoka Asian Film Festival that was held in Fukuoka, Japan from Jun 29 through July 8.

The film's production company MK Pictures said that its director, Yeo In-kwang, personally attended the award ceremony last Sunday to receive the top honor.

"Ice Bar" was chosen for the top prize because of its beautiful portrayal of a local city in the 1960s and 70s, and for the natural and realistic acting of its leading actress and child actor who played the roles of mother and son.


"Ice Bar" is the fifth
Korean film to win the best picture award at this film festival. The other four award-winning films were "An Affair" in 1999, "Nowhere to Hide" in 2000, "Bad Guy" in 2002, and "YMCA Baseball Team" in 2003.

Super Junior Film to Premiere at PiFan


The film 'Pretty Boy Terror Event Series' starring the boy band Super Junior will be screened as a surprise showcase at the 11th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan).

The film, to be released July 26, will premiere on the 20th at the festival. After the screening, director Lee Kwon and cast members will hold a talk with the audience.

Explaining the choice, a festival official said that "the Pretty Boy's wit and cartoonish imagination fits well with the Puchon fantastic film festival, which is all about limitless cinematic imagination."


Attention is now focused on audience reviews of the film starring the young pop stars.

'Black House' to Open in Japan in October


The Korean thriller 'Black House,' starring veteran actor Hwang Jeong-min, will open in 250 theaters in Japan in October.

The hit film is based on a best-selling Japanese novel that has sold a million copies.

A film official says that Black House has received overwhelming praise by Japanese film people and that its release date in Japan has been set.

Its opening at some 250 cinemas is reminiscent of the opening of the
Korean blockbuster 'The Host.' Such fanfare in what is considered the home country of horror films is especially meaningful.



In the movie, Hwang plays an insurance surveyor who looks into a murder case that the police have confirmed as a suicide. The story revolves around his struggle with a psychopath whom he encounters on the crime site.

In Korea, Black House led all horror movies in number of theater screenings and maintained the number one box office position for eight weeks.

Korean Actress in Vietnam for Film Promotion



Korean actress Nam Sang-mi will be in Vietnam on July 7th to promote her 2005 film "Never to Lose." She will be attending the Vietnamese premieres of the film and meeting her fans with her co-star Jang Hang-seon at the nation's two largest theaters.

In "Never to Lose," Nam plays a traffic cop who joins the violent crimes team. Nam is said to be very excited about her first overseas appearance.



Prior to her visit to Vietnam, Nam spent a month in Thailand for a drama shoot. At the time, she was deeply touched by the heartwarming welcome shown by the hotel and awed by the popularity of Korean dramas in Thailand.

Korean Films Enter Fukuoka Asian Film Festival


The 21st Fukuoka Asian Film Festival opens June 29th and will run through July 8th in Fukuoka, Japan. This film festival started in 1987 to discover and nurture new filmmakers from all over Asia. This year, 14 films from nine nations will be introduced at the festival.

Korea will present four films: "Radio Star" starring the venerable Ahn Seong-gi and Park Joong-hoon and directed by Lee Joon-ik, the maker of one of Korea's highest grossing films "King and the Clown"; "Cheaters" by director Park Sung-bum; the heart-warming "Ice Bar," starring young actor Park Ji-bin; and the comical "Mission Sex Control" featuring the cute couple Lee Beom-soo and Kim Jeong-eun.

An interview on Korea's enigmatic director Kim Ki-duk conducted by French film critic Antoine Coppola will be presented at the festival. The directors of the Korean films also plan to attend Q&A session following the showings of their films to answer questions from the audience.
